Hearings/Privilege of the Floor: None

The following represents actions taken by the Board of Education at a Special Meeting held on October 11, 2000. The board:

1. APPROVED the resolution to refund of real property taxes, as submitted.

2. APPROVED the resolution to withdraw and amend school tax rolls.

3. Routine business
a. Staffing

1. APPROVED the part-time appointment of Betty Jane Culligan as a school monitor at Sacandaga, effective Oct. 3, 2000 through June 21, 2001, with 2000-2001 salary to be at the hourly rate of $7.40 (Step 3, 2.25 hours/day).

2. APPROVED the list of additional substitutes for 2000-2001.

b. AWARDED the capital project bids to the lowest qualified bidder for each of the two contracts, as per the Oct. 6, 2000, memo from Turner Construction, for a total amount of $1,962,000 as presented, and AUTHORIZED the board president to sign same.
The contracts were awarded as follows:

Contract No. 7: Junior High School HVAC, Tougher Industries of Albany, $973,000

Contract No. 11: High School HVAC, DiGesare Mechanical of Schenectady, $989,000

These contracts are in addition to the seven contracts totaling $$14,148,400 awarded on Sept. 25 for working involving asbestos abatement, site work, structural steel work, roofling and blocking work, general contruction, plumbing and electrical.
