The following represents actions taken by the Board of Education
at a special meeting held on January 6, 2003, at the Middle School.
The Board of Education:
1. Communications
a. ACCEPTED the letter of resignation for retirement purposes
of Gregory R. Olson, science teacher (Senior High School), effective
July 1, 2003, with appreciation for his service to the district.
b. ACCEPTED the letter of resignation for retirement purposes
of Evelyn A. OMalley, science teacher (Senior High School), effective
July 1, 2003, with appreciation for her service to the district.
c. ACCEPTED the letter of resignation of Nicole Stuart, school
monitor (Glendaal Elementary School), effective c.o.b. December 20,
2002, with appreciation for her service to the district.
d. ACCEPTED the letter of resignation of Carol DiPace, school
monitor (Glen-Worden Elementary School), effective c.o.b. December 20,
2002, with appreciation for her service to the district.
2. Report of Superintendent
a. Staffing
Appointments marked with an * are conditioned on the school districts
receipt of clearance for the employee from the State Education Department
following a criminal history records check in accordance with the provision
of Education Law §3035.
1) RESCINDED the part-time appointment of Gina M. Parker as teacher
of children with handicapping conditions (General Special Education
Tenure Area) (Lincoln School), effective September 1, 2002 through June
30, 2003, and GRANTED her a probationary appointment as teacher
of children with handicapping conditions (General Special Education
Tenure Area) (Lincoln and Sacandaga Schools) effective January 7, 2003
through January 6, 2004, with 2002-2003 salary to be at the annual rate
of $38,022 (Step 4+M+8). Mrs. Parker has provisional certification.
2) APPROVED* the regular substitute appointment of Julie Mullen
as mathematics teacher (Senior High), effective on/about March 20, 2003
through June 30, 2003, with 2002-2003 salary to be at the annual rate
of $35,748 (Step 1+M+24). Mrs. Mullen has provisional certification.
3) APPROVED* the part-time provisional appointment of Matthew
Hughes as Scotia-Glenville Fitness Center assistant, effective January
7, 2003, in accordance with Civil Service Regulations, with 2002-2003
salary to be at the rate of $10.00/hour, 34 hours/week.
3. HELD a roundtable discussion of the district's goal: Reading
and Writing Across the Curriculum
