Glendaal’s long-awaited playground officially opened for business on Monday, Sept. 8.

It was built over the summer and took about four weeks to put up. Bellamy & Sons Construction Co. was instrumental in both constructing the new playground and removing the old wooden playground, which was built in 1986.

The playground's toal cost was $157,000 – $101,000 for equipment and $56,000 for rubber chips and landscaping.

Legislative grants paid $20,000 and the Playground Committee raised $19,000.

Pettinelli and Associates Inc. was the supplier and installer of the playground.

Funding for the district's share of the budget was included in the 2007-08 budget.
