Absentee rates at Scotia-Glenville

Because of the H1N1 flu season, nursing coordinator Joanne Reynolds has been providing Superintendent Susan Swartz with regular updates about the number of children absent from school.

The total number of student absences – for medical or unknown reasons – seemed to be steady during the first several weeks of school.

The school district’s total enrollment – K-12 – is 2,760.

Now that the worst of the H1N1 virus appears to have passed, the number of students out of school for medical or unknown reasons will be posted twice monthly betwen February and June and the district will continue monitoring daily reports and weekly trends.

Reynold cautioned that the months of November to March tend to be worse for flus - since windows are closed and fresh air doesn’t flow into homes.
