8. Request for Overnight Field Trip Š High School Spanish Travel Club to Avila, Spain Š February 6, 2009 Š February 20, 2009
SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the request for the overnight trip of the High School Spanish Travel Club and chaperones to Avila, Spain, from February 6, 2009 Š February 20, 2009, with no expense to the district.
9. Resolution: Richard W. Fyvie Memorial Award
SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Resolution, dated September 22, 2008, regarding acceptance of the Richard W. Fyvie Memorial Award, as submitted.
10. Resolution: Accept Gift and Donation
SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Resolution, dated September 22, 2008, regarding acceptance of a donation from an anonymous donor of three in-kind subscriptions of the Wall Street Journal Classroom Edition for the benefit of three high school Economics classes.
11. Resolution: Withdraw and Amend School Tax Rolls Š 2008-2009
SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education adopt the Resolution, dated September 22, to withdraw and amend the 2008-2009 School Tax Rolls, as submitted.
12. Communications
a. SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the request for an unpaid leave of absence, in accordance with the Family Medical Leave Act, of Linda Nowak, Teaching Assistant (Senior High School), effective September 1, 2008 through September 30, 2008.
b. SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the request for an unpaid leave of absence, in accordance with the Family Medical Leave Act, of Jaroslava (Jarka) Dearstyne, Teaching Assistant (Senior High School), effective September 24, 2008 through October 31, 2008.
c. SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Robert E. Nelson, School Monitor (Middle School), effective c.o.b. September 22, 2008, in order for him to accept the position of Teacher Aide (Middle School).
d. SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Nicole Aydlott, School Monitor (Lincoln), effective c.o.b. September 22, 2008, in order for her to accept the position of School Bus Driver (Transportation).
e. SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Ronald D. Brooks, School Monitor (Senior High School), effective c.o.b. September 22, 2008, in order for him to accept the position of Cleaner (Glendaal Elementary School).
13. Routine Business
a. Staffing
1) SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the part- time appointment of Robert E. Nelson as Teacher Aide (Middle School), in accordance with Civil Service regulations, effective September 23, 2008 through June 30, 2009, with 2008-2009 salary to be at the rate of $9.75/hour (33 hours/week).
2) SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the revision to the part-time appointment of Mary Beth Mantica as School Monitor (Glendaal Elementary School), effective September 9, 2008 through June 30, 2009, with 2008-2009 salary to be at the rate of $9.75/hour (1.67 hours/day).
3) SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the change in assignment of Gary Myatt, School Bus Driver (Transportation) from 4.25 hours/day, plus a late run 4 days/week, to 6.25 hours/day, plus a late run 4 days/ week, effective September 23, 2008 through June 30, 2009, with no change in current rate of pay.
4) SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the part-time appointment of Michael J. Kielthy as School Bus Driver (Transportation), effective September 23, 2008 through June 30, 2009, with 2008-2009 salary to be at the rate of $16.32/hour (Step 1, 4.75 hours/day).
5) SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the part-time appointment of Nicole T. Aydlott as School Bus Driver (Transportation), effective September 23, 2008 through June 30, 2009, with 2008-2009 salary to be at the rate of $16.32/hour (Step 1, 2.25 hours/day).
6) SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Ronald D. Brooks as Cleaner (Glendaal Elementary School), in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Civil Service Commission, effective September 23, 2008, with 2008-2009 annual salary to be at the annual rate of $23,462.40 ($11.28/hour, Step 1).
7) SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the revision to the following 2008-2009 fall coaching appointments:

11) SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Tashana E. Person-Evans as Information Processing Specialist 1 (Pupil Personnel Services) (Sacandaga Elementary School), in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Civil Service Commission, effective September 23, 2008, with 2008-2009 salary to be at the rate of $12/hour, 7 hours/day (10 months, plus 20 summer days). This appointment is conditioned on the school districtÕs receipt of clearance for the employee from the State Education Department following a criminal history records check in accordance with the provisions of Education Law 3035.

1) SuperintendentÕs Recommendation: That the Board of Education award the 2008-2009 Pupil Transportation Bid to Gateway Transportation, as per the attached Bid Summary.
