Ms. Montague’s fifth grade math class finished a unit in volume by creating a VOLUME ZOO.
- Students chose which animals to create then gathered boxes and materials to decorate them.
- Next, they measured the length, width and height of each box to the nearest inch and found the volume by multiplying each measurement.
- Students added the volume of each box to find the total volume of their animal.
The largest animal, Big Boy the Panda, was 2,508 cubic inches. The smallest animal was Da Baby the baby cow, at 499 cubic inches. Watch the video of students explaining their project.
