The Scotia-Glenville Central School District is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its students and staff. To further this mission, the district will host a School Safety Forum on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. in the Middle School Cafeteria, with a livestream option available on the district’s YouTube channel. This forum aims to enhance the understanding of the district’s partnership with law enforcement in addressing safety concerns.
Facilitated by Mr. Michael Needham from Needham Risk Management, the event will feature key officials, including members of the Board of Education, district administration, and police representatives from the Town of Glenville, the Village of Scotia, and New York State Police Major Andrew Fowler. Major Fowler, who is also a parent of students in the district, oversees the State Police School and Community Outreach Program. He is also involved with the New York State School Safety Improvement Team, where he explains, “I work with multiple state agencies to continually evaluate school safety measures, while ensuring districts submit complete emergency response plans across the state.
Community members were invited to submit questions in advance, and there will also be an opportunity for attendees to ask questions during the forum. We encourage members of the community to participate in this informative event as we work together to ensure the safety of our schools.
