Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education acknowledge the Proclamations, dated April 11, 2022, to recognize and congratulate Tyler Greene of the Scotia-Glenville Indoor Track Team, Addison Pokines and Sam Brown of the Scotia-Glenville/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Boys’ Swim Team for their achievements as New York State Public High School Champions, and also recognize and congratulate the teams’ coaches and parents of the athletes for their assistance and support, as submitted.

6. Resolution: Accept Donations for various Senior High School Award Scholarships
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the attached donations to be applied to various Senior High School Scholarship Awards, as submitted.
7. Resolution: Accept Donation from Anonymous Donor
Superintendent Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the donation of a SONY Blu-Ray DVD Player, valued at approximately $70.00 by an anonymous donor, as submitted.
8. Resolution: Appoint District Interim Administrator
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the resolution to appoint Thomas VanGelder, Interim Administrator, commencing April 7, 2022, in accordance with the agreement dated April 6, 2022, as submitted.
9. Resolution: Appoint District Interim Administrator
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the resolution to appoint Kathleen Spring, Interim Administrator, commending April 4, 2022, in accordance with the agreement dated March 30, 2022, as submitted.
10. Review and Adopt the 2022-2023 School Calendar
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education adopt the 2022-2023 school calendar, as submitted.
11. Appoint Poll Clerks and Inspectors for the Annual District Election
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education appoint the list of Poll Clerks and Inspectors for the Annual District Election on May 17, 2022, as submitted.
12. Appoint Inspectors for Nursing Homes (Judson Meadows and Baptist Health Center) for the Annual District Election
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education appoint the list of Inspectors for Nursing Homes for the Annual District Election on May 17, 2022, as submitted.
13. Communications
a. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education rescind the letter of resignation of Robert Brower, Cleaner (Glen-Worden Elementary), and approve the request for an unpaid leave of absence from March 30, 2022 through April 1, 2022, as submitted.
14. Report of Superintendent
a. Staffing
1) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Kathleen Powers as Elementary Classroom Substitute Teacher (Lincoln Elementary), effective March 30, 2022 through on or about May 4, 2022, with salary to be at the rate of $123.00 daily (1-20 days), and then be appointed on the 21st day through June 30, 2022, with the 2021-2022 salary to be at the rate of $456.60/per days worked.
2) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of Greta Brown-Vegare as Teacher Aide (Middle School), in accordance
with Civil Service Rules and Regulations, effective March 30, 2022 to June 30, 2022 with 2021-2022 salary to be at the rate of $13.20/hour, 6.5 hours/day, 32.5 hours/week.
3) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the additional mentoring stipend of $250.00 for Anita Bruinsma (Tier III Mentor) for the 2021-2022 school year.
4) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the following individuals for supplemental appointments of Intramural Activities for the 2021-2022 school year:

A Regular Meeting of the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District was held in the Cafeteria of the Middle School, in said district on April 11, 2022.
President Bucciferro called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.

Recognition of 2021-2022 Winter State Champions

Superintendent’s Comments – (Susan Swartz, Superintendent of Schools)
Superintendent Swartz informed the Board that after discussing with Ms. Federico, she has altered her initial plan for class sizes at Sacandaga to include a third section for fourth grade for next year. She reported to the Board that the Cohort Survival Study should be available by late June or early July and this will provide valuable information for the district in terms of enrollment trends. She also reported that kindergarten at Sacandaga will be closed at 20 students per class and that any future kindergarten enrollments for next year will be relocated to another school.

Several people spoke to the Board regarding their concerns about class sizes at both Sacandaga and Glen-Worden schools.
