Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the resolution, dated July 25, 2022, authorizing the continuation of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District merger agreement for the 2022-2023 school year with the Mohonasen, Guilderland, Schalmont and Voorheesville School Districts for an interscholastic Ice Hockey team for the mutual benefit of all five districts, as submitted.
12. Resolution: Continuation of the Existing Boys’ and Girls’ Varsity Swim Program Merger
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the resolution, dated July 25, 2022, authorizing the continuation of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District merger agreement for the 2022-2023 school year with the Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central School District for an interscholastic Boys’ and Girls’ Swim program, as submitted.
13. Resolution: Continuation of the Existing Wrestling Program Merger
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the resolution, dated July 25, 2022, authorizing the continuation of the Scotia-Glenville Central School District merger agreement for the 2022-2023 school year with the Galway Central School District for an interscholastic Wrestling program, as submitted.
14. Approve Memorandum of Agreement By and Between Scotia-Glenville Central School District and Scotia-Glenville Teachers’ Association
Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Memorandum of Agreement By and Between Scotia-Glenville Central School District and Scotia-Glenville Teachers’ Association regarding the authorization of a $1,000 stipend be paid to Elizabeth Foley in recognition of her duties performed as a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS) trainer for the period of September 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, as submitted.

Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Memorandum of Agreement By and Between Scotia-Glenville Central School District and Scotia-Glenville Teachers’ Association for School Aides and Monitors Unit regarding the authorization of a $1,000 stipend be paid to Kimberly Beck in recognition of her duties performed as a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS) trainer for the period of September 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, as submitted.
19. Approve Memorandum of Agreement By and Between Scotia-Glenville Central School District and Scotia-Glenville Secretarial Association
Superintendent’ Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the Memorandum of Agreement By and Between Scotia-Glenville Central School District and Scotia-Glenville Secretarial Association regarding a stipend for the 2022-2023 school year, in the amount of $8,000.00 for Jane Taber, Senior Stenographer (Senior High School), in recognition of duties assumed providing district-wide technical support for the NutriKids system and overseeing a scheduled audit for the 2022-2023 school year.

a. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Ashlye Cheely, Speech Pathologist (Glendaal Elementary), effective July 20, 2022, with appreciation for her service to the district, as submitted.
b. Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education accept the letter of resignation of Benjamin Tunison, Teaching Assistant (Senior High School), effective September 1, 2022, with appreciation for his service to the district, as submitted.

a. Staffing
1) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the voluntary change in assignment of Debra Lewis from Kindergarten (Glendaal Elementary) to 1st Grade Teacher (Glendaal Elementary), effective September 1, 2022, with no change in salary for 2022-2023.
2) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the voluntary change in assignment of Shayna Weiss-Perea from 3rd Grade Teacher (Glen-Worden) to a LOA 1st Grade Teacher (Glen-Worden), effective September 1, 2022, with no change in salary for 2022-2023.
3) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Jacob Hardy as 1.0 FTE Health Teacher (Middle School), effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2026, with 2022-2023 salary to be at the rate of $49,419.00 (Step 4 +M). Mr. Hardy has Provisional Certification in Health Education (K-12).
4) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Sarah DeLorenzo as 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher (Middle School), effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2026, with 2022-2023 salary to be at the rate of $49,419.00 (Step 4 +M). Ms. DeLorenzo has Initial Certification in Students with Disabilities (Grades 1-6).
5) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the probationary appointment of Cheryl Reed as 1.0 FTE Mathematics Teacher (Middle School), effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2026, with 2022-2023 salary to be at the rate of $56,935.00 (Step 8 +M). Ms. Reed has Initial Certification in Mathematics (Grades 7-12).
6) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education rescind the appointment of Winnie Valachovic as Co-teacher Planning Grade 3.
7) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the additional list of employees for summer curriculum work at the rate of $210.00/day for Teachers for each full day of service this summer, as submitted.
8) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education rescind the appointment of Daniel Carter as APEX Supervising Teacher for the APEX Summer School 2022 Credit Recovery Program.
9) Superintendent’s Recommendation: That the Board of Education approve the appointment of the Mary Schmidt, APEX Supervising Teacher, for the APEX Summer School 2022 Credit Recovery Program for the period of July 6, 2022 through August 17, 2022, for 2 hours/day, up to 25 days, at the rate of $25.00/hour (total salary $1,250.00)

Ms. Palden has Permanent Certification in French.

A Regular Meeting of the Board of Education of the Scotia-Glenville Central School was held in the Cafeteria of the Middle School, in said district on July 25, 2022.

Annette Trapini spoke to the Board about diversity, student mental health and the BARR program
being used at North Colonie School District.
Presentation – Current and Future Enrollment for Scotia-Glenville Central School District – Steven Zautner, Enrollment Consultant
Steve Zautner gave a presentation to the board on current and future enrollment based upon a study he did for the district. He summarized his report by explaining that overall, Scotia has had a significant drop in enrollment since the 2012 school year.
Superintendent’s Comments (Susan M. Swartz, Superintendent of Schools)
Superintendent Swartz discussed the Viaport Aquarium field trip taken by the Learning Leaps classes at Sacandaga’s summer school program.
Discussion: Board of Education Goals for 2022-2023
The Board discussed their board goals for 22-23 and all were in agreement they were satisfied with the goals they developed. Ms. Carbone stated that she would like to see a report on board goals at each meeting where district reports are presented.
