BOCES CTE students advance to state competition, showcasing real-world skills in law enforcement
SGHS senior Dezirae Austin, along with her CSI teammates from the BOCES Criminal Justice program, proudly wore their first-place medals after triumphing in the regional SkillsUSA competition yesterday. The SkillsUSA Championships are designed and assessed by industry professionals.
Dezirae, together with Gwen Deichman from Niskayuna and Asia McFarline from Guilderland, has qualified for the state competition scheduled for April 23-25 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. The champions of this event will advance to the national level in June.
“Congratulations to our scholars! They did an outstanding job, and we are incredibly proud of them,” stated Debra Toy, advisor at the SkillsUSA organization at the Capital Region BOCES Career & Technical Education Center, Albany Campus.
