Discovery and interactive learning

Second Annual S-G Sciencepalooza

Excited young scientists proudly showcased a variety of projects during this year’s event. K-5 students explored the wonders of the scientific method while having an amazing time! Each participant chose a topic they were passionate about, adhered to their grade-level guidelines for the scientific method, and crafted a tri-fold poster to present their findings. The joy and enthusiasm on the students’ faces reflected the event’s success, sparking hopes for more aspiring scientists to participate in the future.

“We had nearly 100 participants this year. Our aspiring scientists did a terrific job,” said Rick Arket, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. “I learned about solar panels, the phases of the moon, whether the five-second rule is indeed a myth, and just how many preservatives are in the bread we buy. I am so proud of our elementary Tartans!”

Mr. Arket initiated the districtwide elementary school Sciencepalooza to cultivate curiosity and a love for science among our students, preparing them to become the innovators and problem-solvers of tomorrow.

Following the science fair, all participants were invited to an engaging interactive presentation of Silent Wings, hosted by the Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York. Students were enthralled by the majestic creatures as they learned about their habitats, behaviors, and the crucial roles they play in the ecosystem. The presenters welcomed questions, encouraging an engaging discussion about conservation and the importance of safeguarding these remarkable animals.
