Scotia-Glenville teachers Katlyn Aker and Joyce Semerad took eight enthusiastic YAC students to The Youth Leadership Summit, where they engaged deeply with the concepts of Unified Sports and Special Olympics. YAC stands for the Youth Activation Committee which highlights the focus on inclusion and community.
Youth leaders, both with and without intellectual disabilities, collaborated to develop effective plans for events and strategies that promote inclusivity.
The Youth Leadership Summit serves as a significant gathering for student leaders from across the Capital Region, providing a platform to empower one another and share experiences in creating inclusive environments in their schools. The atmosphere was supportive and motivating.
