Together as one – Spirit Day
Scotia-Glenville High School concluded Unity Week with an exciting “Together as One” assembly, leaving for spring break feeling rejuvenated and motivated.
The Tartans were divided into grade levels to cheer on their peers in a student versus faculty unified basketball game.
At halftime, the audience was treated to a fast-paced relay race where participants had to follow silly steps, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
The day ended with a friendly game of basketball knockout, where students competed to be the last one standing.
The competition was intense, but the Tartans showed their unity by cheering on their fellow classmates.
The Elevated Student Voices (ESV) group and the Youth Activation Committee (YAC) created themes and activities designed to promote inclusion and solidarity. Daily clothing themes and hashtags were used to raise awareness, and a unity door decorating contest was held throughout the week.
YAC and ESV members spoke to the student body about good sportsmanship, integrity, inclusivity, and Tartan Teamwork.
Embracing differences, laughing together, and engaging in a little friendly rivalry helps build character and connection which creates a healthy and supportive school environment.
