Weather safety plan: K-8 students dismiss half day June 18 and 20

Dear S-G Families,

Due to the projected onset of extreme heat conditions, our students in grades K-8 will be dismissed on a half day schedule for Tuesday, June 18 and Thursday, June 20. (Dismissal times: ES at noon and MS at 11:15 a.m.) The state regents exams will take place as scheduled for students in grades 9-12.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for Schenectady County, in effect from noon Tuesday, June 18 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20. During this time, heat index values could reach as high as 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hot temperatures and high humidity can lead to heat-related illnesses. Please take steps to keep cool and hydrated throughout the day and dress in lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
