SGCSD Releases 2025–2026 Cell Phone Policy Report

In accordance with New York's Phone-Free Schools Law, Scotia-Glenville Central School District has released its annual report on cell phone policy enforcement and student data. Read the full report on our Phone-Free Schools Law Data page.

2025–2026 Report Breakdown

  • High Student Compliance: 78% of high schoolers and 89% of middle schoolers had zero cell phone infractions during the first year of the policy. Elementary schools recorded just 11 total infractions.
  • Focus on Corrective Action: Most violations were handled with low-level interventions. The top dispositions were warnings, administrative counseling, and device confiscation and return after the school day (with lunch detention and in-school suspension used for repeat middle school offenses).
  • Student Feedback: Roughly half of the secondary student population reported feeling less distracted during the day due to a phone-free environment.
