The Board of Education is developing a specialized committee of various Scotia-Glenville CSD stakeholders to work in conjunction with the current BOE Policy committee members for the 2026-2027 school year. We feel strongly that this committee should consist of passionate individuals with varying perspectives. The BOE is looking for applicants to take part in an intensive 9 month process where as a collaborative team we review, and redevelop as needed, all of our school district’s policies. This is a heavy lift, and to ensure equal representation of stakeholders,the Board of Education is seeking interested individuals to consider partaking in this effort with the BOE members and SG District staff at many levels. This 9 month commitment would be bi-weekly from September, 30 2026- June, 30 2027, the remainder of the 2026-2027 school year. All meeting dates are provided in advance.

Interested applicants should possess the following skills/qualifications:

• Ability to stay proactively focused on the tasks at-hand and maintain forward momentum. 

• Ability to view various resources and forms of data for research and reference purposes when drafting and adapting policies. 

• Have experience with and be well versed in: one, some, or all of the following areas; 

  • BOE policy

  • NYS Education Law

  • NYSED Regulations

  • Legal knowledge and experience (preferably federal and NYSED mandates).

  • Any other pertinent area you feel benefits the Policy Committee can also be considered, make the argument. No proactive idea is off the table on this committee. 

• Ability to speak up or request support when needed to ensure efficacy and efficient systems, we are a committee for a reason and will work collaboratively to support each other through the process. 

• To be able to hold a systemic viewpoint - (Meaning you possess the ability to minimize, not eliminate, your personal viewpoint as a stakeholder and can see the whole view. Able to consider how policies can impact students, families, district missions, strategic goals, staffing, and day-to-today implementation by administration).

• Available for a minimum of 90% of the meetings. We also understand emergencies come up and family first, and can absolutely work with unforeseen circumstances,  but based on the current meeting schedule below… Could you potentially see yourself participating in at least 90% or all meetings?

** If the answer to this question is NO, please consider supporting another initiative to help our district. Active and consistent participation is a requirement of this committee.
